Reducing Antibiotic Resistance

February 15, 2017

Antibiotics are great, without them many routine treatments will become increasingly dangerous. Setting broken bones, basic operations, even chemotherapy and animal health all rely on access to antibiotics that work.

However, as a society, our overuse of antibiotics is resulting in increased resistance.  This is one of the biggest threats facing the world today.  If not addressed, a recent review estimated that this problem could result in 10 million deaths globally by 2050.

Antibiotics are not always the best way to manage toothache and dental infection.

We pledge to only prescribe antibiotics when absolutely necessary.
