Surgery

-  Clean boxes in the decon room- take out lint cloths at end of day and leave empty overnight.

- Charging appts through - Nurses- please charge through appts before pt leaves the surgery- especially with hyg’s and JS. Clinicians can still finish their notes after it has been charged- just click that you do NOT want to complete appt. This allows reception to take the correct money and send a receipt. We can’t produce a receipt until it is charged therefore there can be hold up at reception.  If it a ‘view’ and you are unsure of whether there is a charge, just remind dentist to charge through before starting their notes.

- Note taking- I am looking at the way nurses help record the notes at exams, treatment appts etc. It is helpful if the nurse can get as many of the…

Surgeries/clinical

- Please remember the end of month tasks in each surgery (pouch check and clean x-rays) – check all the pouches including MC endo stuff, CN cupboards under window, Upstairs JS stuff- cupboard and trolley. This can be done anytime in the month not just in last couple of days. Also, if time available, please consider the deep clean schedule.

-  Decon- as we are currently very busy, sometimes it gets very backed up- hyg nurses must help as much as possible after U/S clean- as Lead Nurse, I will ask Becky to be a bit more proactive, so she will be chasing you ! 😊

- Lab work disinfection- please put on correct stage of the treatment plan and under the correct clinician- if being added in the hyg surgery it will default to the hyg logged in unless you change it.

General

-  Policies-  we have all recently signed our annual policy review declaration. As I review the policies each year, I do often make small changes so even though we sign to say we have reviewed- please can we all actually have a read through; especially Employee handbook as this is all information relevant to your roles. Also nurses, please review the Infection Control Policies- for example, I have recently changed the Social Media policy to include WhatsApp as this is a social media platform.  Also, on both our WhatsApp groups can we please not message after 9pm. In an emergency, please WhatsApp me directly.

- Treatment blocks- please do not book exams/views in treatment blocks unless the block can be moved. I have now set a monthly task to check the treatment blocks have not been booked over- any appts…

Nurses/ Clinical

-          Cross infection review- can we all review our cross-infection policies (available on staff area of website and on the desktop of computers).

Just a couple of points- re. scanners (more about scanners coming up)- please process scanner tips as per protocol in decon, in the surgery, the stylus/wand needs to have a plastic cover on- please don’t touch laptop with dirty gloves.

No PPE out of surgery; this includes masks- it is ok to use clean glove to carry dirty box to and from decon.
