Reception
- We are now sending estimates/ treatment plans to Denplan Care patients also- as this acts as our consent and shows the patient their treatment plan.
- Also, when calling patients to remind of treatment appt (the day before) we need to check that they have had their estimate/plan and are happy with it. This gives time to answer any queries or resend if they haven’t seen it (ie. gone into junk).
- When booking ‘views/emergency appts, please try and leave a note as to why patient is attending.
- Treatment blocks- please don’t book over treatment blocks- if it can’t be moved- leave it and find another appt; especially on Tuesdays with CN
- Reminders- if no mobile number, call patient, do not send SMS to home phone number.
- Referrals- if we are chasing up NHS referrals, read all letters attached the case and check address is correct- we recently had one where we sent current address on initial but NHS had written to pts previous address.
- Also if we receive letters from hospitals, other practices, ortho etc- we need to change status (waiting, active, complete) – on wait list tab.
- We are still trying to get LG busier- her Friday sessions can be downstairs as I usually open Fridays sessions when CN or MC are off.
- MC has been approached by another practice from Marple Bridge for endo referrals so keep an eye out for them – treat as usual endo refs.
Clinical
- Whitening and who can buy- clarification for reception
Decision made- we can only sell whitening gel to patients that have had their whitening trays made at the practice. If a patient has had trays made elsewhere, they must bring their trays to next exam to be checked by dentist (free of charge check). If they want an appointment sooner, please book 15 min view (£44.00).
- Weekly surgery jobs- MC sometimes gets missed- possibly a job for a Tuesday when MC surgery is empty.
- Monthly surgery jobs- don’t forget the xray plate cleaning!
- When chance keep working on deep clean log- inside cupboard doors in all surgeries.
Hyg notes
- I have added size of Tepes noted and bleeding index to hygienist quick note.
- I have added a note on ‘invoice notes’ asking patients to bring their toothbrush to their hyg appts; this will show on their treatment plan/estimate. Hygs please ask regulars to bring their brush to next appointment.
National Smile Month is coming up 13/05/2024- 13/06/2024- the theme is ‘Love Your Smile’- any ideas to promote the practice? Any ideas for social media presence in general?
We decided we would think of a ‘Love Your Smile’ topic for each week of the month.
Becky came up with the idea of us each providing a picture of ‘a smile we love’ (obs. with their permission!) which we will create into a reel/montage for our Facebook and Instagram page.
We also talked about possibly doing something around diet and fitness.

CPD TOPIC
Last meeting’s topic was Safeguarding to Level 3- not many done it- so please carry on this month, hopefully by next meeting we will all be Level 3.
Also, at CQC inspection I had you all sign a log to say you had read all the policies. This is coming up for annual signature so if you could all review the policies; there are a lot so maybe start with those most relevant to you i.e Nurses/ Reception- Employee Handbook. As I review the policies there are minor changes to keep them updated- all policies available in staff area of website and on computers in Practice Procedures.
Practice walk
I propose a walk weekend 27th 28th April or 11th 12th May - I will start a poll on WhatsApp and we’ll go with most popular.
